Stolen My Words

Stolen My Words

A Poem by Tree Bark

I don't know why I stand here

Surrounded by cold air

It numbs me to the feelings

That I don't want to feel

If I cry

The tears will dry like icicles

On my cheek

And I cannot speak

The cold has

Stolen my words

That's not such a bad thing

They're not always pleasant

...

I don't know why I lie here

Surrounded by hot air

It melts from me the feelings

That I don't want to feel

If I cry

The tears will evaporate invisible

On my cheek

And I cannot speak

The heat has

Stolen my words

That's not such a bad things

They shouldn't always be heard

...

I don't know why I cry here

Surrounded by damp air

It drains from me the feelings

That I don't want to feel

If I cry

The tears will fall like raindrops

Down my cheek

Adding to the puddle at my feet

And I cannot speak - the water has

Stolen my words

That's not such a bad thing

Losing them keeps me from drowning

...

I don't know why I run here

Surrounded by swift air

It blows from me the feelings

That I don't want to feel

If I cry

The tears will be whipped away

From my cheek

And I cannot speak

The wind has

Stolen my words

That's not such a bad thing

Keeping them prevented me from flying
