SuperlativeA Poem by BlotterIt got its name before it existed, and it was the biggest, best and brightest of them all.
The other folk on the block were jealous because this was the "epic" and "most" of all of them.
The device was up and running before they plugged it in (the guys from the service who came with thing).
It took care of itself and ran on sunshine and childrens wishes.
We watched it and felt pride in knowing that we were special just for being near it.
Some said we were smug, but they had the ugliness of envy on them.
It ran all the time, and we forgot why we had it.
But we knew it was very good and that we were particularly great for having chosen it.
Then the day came when we could no longer decide;
had we chosen it, or was it forced upon us?
It is still running.
