Funeral For A Friend (Nice To Meet You)

Funeral For A Friend (Nice To Meet You)

A Poem by Travis Prino

I'll whisper sweet nothings in your ear

just promise not to cry tonight

and I don't know your name

but I swear I recognize your face

in the moonlight

and you're running

but you don't know what you are running from

or where you're running to

so I'll hold your hand

and I know that we will make it through

if I don't kill you first

this is a funeral for a friend

that I haven't even met

I'll drag you so far deep down

you can't refrain from screaming out

I'll place this blade into your back

then cut your spinal cord in half

you'll fall upon your bloody knees

but you've become used to the tease

this is a funeral for a friend

so let me introduce myself

I'll whisper sarcastic lies in your ear

and you'll believe every word of it

you fell for me

but I never really fell for you

I just said I did

you ran for your life

and you landed yourself in my arms

but not in my heart

so I'll ease your pain

with the words I know you want to hear

then I'll disappear

this is a funeral for a friend

that I haven't even met

I'll drag you so far deep down

you can't refrain from screaming out

I'll place this blade into your back

then cut your spinal cord in half

you'll fall upon your bloody knees

but you've become used to the tease

this is a funeral for a friend

so let me introduce myself

you're just another check mark on my bedpost

I'm just another valuable lesson from an invaluable host

you're just another notch on my belt

I took you by the neck and dragged you through hell

you're just another name upon my list

I'm just another a*****e who played you for sex

you're just another stain in my sheets

I made you feel beautiful then left you feeling cheap

this is a funeral for a friend

that I haven't even met

I'll drag you so far deep down

you can't refrain from screaming out

I'll place this blade into your back

then cut your spinal cord in half

you'll fall upon your bloody knees

but you've become used to the tease

this is a funeral for a friend

so let me introduce myself

and now you wish you never met me

wish you could forget me

but wishing doesn't get you very far.
