A Stranger Am I

A Stranger Am I

A Poem by Travis Prino

I hate the way they look at me

the way they always stare

in one ear and out the other

but I can't say I don't care

suck it up and walk away

I'm so much better than that

bury it within myself

someday it'll all come back

I can't hold it in forever

I'm a stranger in my own skin

because of the way you treat me

I'm actually just like you

what can I do to make you see?

I'm a stranger in my own skin

because of the way you treat me

I'm actually just like you

why can't you see?

how they differentiate

the way I feel inside

from the way they feel for me

I see hatred in their eyes

but hatred stirs inside me too

they think we are so different

one thing that they overlooked

we are one in the same consistent

I'm just trying to make things better

I'm a stranger in my own skin

because of the way you treat me

I'm actually just like you

what can I do to make you see?

I'm a stranger in my own skin

because of the way you treat me

I'm actually just like you

why can't you see?

you are what you hate

that's why you hate me

you are what you hate

that's why you hate me

you are what you hate

that's why you hate me

you are what you hate

that's why you hate me

but I hate you too

I'm a stranger in my own skin

because of the way you treat me

I'm actually just like you

what can I do you make you see?

I'm a stranger in my own skin

because of the way you treat me

I'm actually just like you

why can't you see?

a stranger am I?

Just a little caveat to my writing, 95% of what I write are lyrics so excuse the length and repetition and don't be deterred by that. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment. more..
