As I'm Growing Older

As I'm Growing Older

A Poem by Travie
"

This poem is about how I'm beginning to feel each and every day.

"
Hiding behind a smile,
I pretend everything is okay,
You ask me how I am,
I say happy to be alive.

But little do you know,
That with every sun that sets,
And every moon that rises,
The stars don't shine for me.

To live a day is to fight a battle,
I question why I stay trapped,
When I know my simple fate,
Ready to lose a war I cannot win.

There is only peace when I am numb,
To feel alive brings nothing but misery,
Sorrow and pain is all I seem to know,
And this darkness is all that I can see.

I can understand this. You learn to savor it all. The joy, and the pain, are just part of life. Each adds to the experience. Nice write, and please excuse my sidelines.

Honest and direct thoughts. Getting older, like all things. Life and goals will change. Old age had it advantages also. We learn what is truly valuable. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
