My Brompton Cocktail

My Brompton Cocktail

A Poem by Travie
"

I wrote this as I was listening to a song called "Brompton Cocktail".

"
I feel like I'm out of time,
With nowhere left to turn,
I've been in every direction,
And still can't find something new.

I've been beaten and shamed,
With nothing left to lose,
I've thrown it all away,
No light at the end of the road.

All I know is to fail,
To quit all of my endeavours,
Even the ones I thought I loved,
Have said I'm just a failure.

If that is the truth,
Tonight I end this fight,
I can hold on no longer,
I must subside,
Release this pain and anger.

As I realize what is real,
That I am slowly dying,
It's time to say my final goodbye,
And take my brompton cocktail.

Well penned. The trick I've found to escaping this poem's logic is to reject "I've been in every direction". I like the saying "You don't have all the answers, you don't even have all the questions".

It is an intense poem. Death and suicide as a result of rejection is favorite topic. But in this one it sounds graceful though.

A man may hide ... he may run ... or simply appeal for time ... but nobody says no when the time comes. Cheers!
