A Deceitful Beauty

A Deceitful Beauty

A Poem by Travie
"

This is a poem I wrote while alone with my thoughts late at night.

"
These voices inside my head,
Let me know right from wrong,
They exist inside themselves,
And are here to stay for eternity.

Whether they will lead me to happiness,
Or a destructive life of pain and lies,
They seem nearly impossible to shake,
Only time holds the key to the truth.

I'm shattered on the inside,
But no one knows my silent cry,
How each and every prolonging day,
I am fighting a new dark disaster.

The question still remains in my head,
Am I really human, or am I just a monster?
This world I live in has no light at the end,
All it is is a deep dark hole of sorrow.

even the most beautiful sights hold darkness in them. are we not all monsters, if not anything else? we hold the feelings called greed, anger, hate, selfishness, despair, but don't most creatures do? I may be contradictory to my own statements, but I will not lie of that some humans hold only happiness, hope, and most importantly, the ability to wish? A very...nice poem. sorry, but I do not know what else to use, and even then it doesn't fit

Why is it that all the thoughts come at night?! I too experience these deep thoughts late at night. Then I wake up the next morning and forget them!! This poem accurately portrays the way it feels to have conflicting thoughts. The dreaded 'inner conflict.' That moment when you question your own motives. Are you a good person or a bad person? How do you know if you're a good person or a bad person? What if you seem like a good person on the outside but on the inside you're not? You summed these questions up in the phrase 'Am I really human or am I just a monster?' Continue to write down these night time philosophies, as they may not be there when you wake up the next morning! :)

The usual guide on such an issue is simply to search someplace else ... but that would take us past the longing and attachment we have created to something from long ago. To break free ... and simply move ... produces quite a jolt on the system ... and brings something new. Its why the man took his motorbike and traveled around the country ... or took the car and drove to the next state ... or simply jumped on the bus and went off to Florida for a couple of days. A poem that would remind many of their rite of passage.

A great deal of pain and melancholy in this piece. Over all, strong in form. I think you meant knows instead of known. :)

Alone is a dangerous place to be sometimes.

But no one "knows" instead of known.
All it is, is,... put the coma there.

An amazing insight about the dynamics inside your head, the large whirlpool of voices inside our head, make us what we are, at no two points are we the same and often thinking about those things makes us question even ourselves. Good job pondering, more ideas will spring when you listen to those voices and as a writer/ poet , those voices do help, channeling our collective individuality into concrete thoughts.
