Summertime Sadness

Summertime Sadness

A Poem by Travie
"

This is a poem I wrote while listening to a song called "Summertime Sadness" by Lana Del Rey.

"
It was two summers ago,
You were sitting on the jagged rocks,
With your blue eyes glistening in the sun,
The beauty you possess, as perfect as can be.

Little did you know,
You are everything I have ever dreamed of,
And when I told you so,
You let me know the same.

Was is fate or destiny?
To have you sitting in front of me,
My only wish upon the stars,
Is now this beautiful reality.

I awoke to see the sun shining on my face,
I was in a daze as I looked around,
To realize that you were only in my dreams,
You are the one that got away.

This one is romantic and sentimental, wistful and hopeful. I liked this one very much!

wow its really just the same thing i wrote about. ._. and its a very interesting story of beauty in life being a dream and realizing it when awakening. :D i caught some vivid images and that is amazing that you can do that in writing nice job!

O.M.G. I had to read this poem as soon as I saw the title and read the comment...I did a poem when I was listening to that song too!!! And named it summertime sadness!!!

But wait, that's NOT where the weirdness stops. This poem reminds me exactly of a story that I'm trying to work out right now! And I'm not just saying that...this is like EXACTLY what happens... weird.

Anyway, I really liked the poem, especially how you had the narrator wake up 'to see the sun shining on (his) face.' It's a really nice juxtaposition between she softness of the delicate beauty that you described before and the harsh reality that it was all (either literally or symbolically) a dream.

Definitely something I can relate to...you've captured the pain of this scenario with a gentle and precise sensitivity...well done :)

The title drew me to this poem thanks to how much I love that song, haha. This poem is very beautiful. I look forward to reading more of your work.

The one that got away. They are never forgotten. The poem is true for the most of us. We wished we stopped and held on. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
