Resiliance

Resiliance

A Poem by Kait
"

A little toned down from my last one...

"

It’s hard.

It’s really hard,

to look over at “our” bed,

the same one we

made love in

last night, and see:

her phantom imprint

on the sheets,

on your beastly skin.

She knows your face,

when it gets really good-

it’s ALL vaporized on the crumbling

walls of the sanctuary

I built for us in my mind.

Don’t touch me

with those fingers and thumbs

that tapped

our relationship to dust;

all your sweet words

melting like icicles

down my face.

I know what I felt for you,

but now we have to part.

We had our moment in destiny

but that’s all we were supposed to be.

I’ll always love you

for who I thought you were.

A true poem for love. Love can lead us to sad and happy places. I like the above lines a lot. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

A tale of betrayal, love gone awry. Well written, Kait; you gave some great images. I am reminded of an old song called "Weakness in Me"...

This one is like a knife through the betrayed heart. Well said...I felt this one.
