"

Juliette & April.

"

Juliette liked April. From the first time she saw her from across a crowded room, she knew they would be sharing more than just friendly glances.

They were at an evening wake; Juliette’s mother had just passed away and as far as anyone else knew it was natural causes but Juliette’s whole family had a different definition of the word ‘natural.’

April; the daughter of Juliette’s business associate, Glenn Habberford walked into next to him. She had long, auburn hair and pink lips that parted and felt composed to speak when Juliette walked toward her, turned, stood close and faced the same direction she was. Juliette spoke softly into April’s heart, “I’m Juliette Oppenheir, your father’s business partner, I’m glad to finally meet you.”

“Oh, uhm, Hi, yes, uhm, I’m so sorry for your loss.” April stammered, taken aback by Juliette’s aura of confidence and direct intention to speak to her.

“Since you walked in here I knew I wanted to talk to you. I wanted to know what possessed me so, but I think I just realized what it was,” Juliette leaned closer and thumbed the Wiccan emblem hanging around April’s neck.

“Oh, well, I’m sorry, I don’t mean any offe…” Juliette cut her off.

“You must be pretty open minded if you believe in something as socially taboo as Wicca?”

“I’d like to think s..” April barely got the words out before Juliette asked her another question.

"Can I tell you something? You have to promise not to tell anyone.”

“S-sure.”

“You can’t tell ANYone.” She glanced down at the young girl with a devious half smile and seductive, slit eyes, “I’m a witch, too.” Juliette watched the expression on April’s face change to surprise and giddiness.

“hmm, really? Wow, that’s pretty awesome.” Lightly laughing in suspicion.

“I wouldn’t have guessed that from looking at you and knowing that you and my father work together. He’s not the type to accept things like this. In fact, he really hates it.”

“A lot of people reject things they don’t understand because it scares them. Your father is a good man, but there is a lot he doesn’t understand unless it's finances and science.”

Juliette connected with April on that; she saw a wall of formality crumble between them. They looked directly into each other's souls with fresh eyes.

After the wake, Juliette said her parting words to Glenn and her new found person of interest; Juliette reached for April’s hand and slipped a small paper into her palm and said, “thank you so much for coming.” April looked down and back up with just the corner of her right eye. Their fingers lingered as they parted, April slid the paper into her bra and gave one last glance over her shoulder as she walked out, knowing she was being watched by that mysterious temptress.

Kait, your story has potential. There are a few errors in punctuation that hinder flow and clarity a bit, but are easily fixed. EX:
Juliette connected with April on that, she saw a wall of formality crumble between them, they looked directly into each others souls with fresh eyes.
- This is a run-on. Try:
Juliette connected with April on that; she saw a wall of formality crumble between them. They looked directly into each other's souls with fresh eyes.
