Moonlight shows the pathA Poem by TravelinAlaskanA hike on a Alaskan fall day. A cool breeze, rustling grass, trees creaking as they sway. Things are winding down, the forest is ready for its winter slumber. Deep in the woods I find. Peace I walk through the days strongest light and before I know, it, is, night. The sky dark and cold, the path becoming hard to see, I rush, to beat the darkness. An uneasy feeling. The beginning of fear. My torch, dim from neglect gives false security with what is essence of light. Shadows cast, and seen as moving things. Heart ponds and eyes widen. Fear. The trail is gone, no longer seen. The mind wanders too dark things, with glowing eyes in every scene. My pace quickens with stumbling steps, through scratching branches. A russell behind but nothing there. The torch flickers, then fails. Darkness is all there is. Panic Blindly stumbling and brought to knees, I beg for peace. Crawling I search and find a tree. A nook of roots, cradle, and comfort me. Calm. Sitting, looking to the sky I exclaim, help me! Clouds crack and break. The moon, Full and bright. The darkness pierced and faded yield the path so quickly taken. © 2015 TravelinAlaskanReviews
