Live Within

Live Within

A Poem by Trapped

Look within

The light tickling the trees

Stirring up the foxes and the bees,

Prancing and dancing along the beams

That holds us together at the seams.

Reinvent the invigorating thoughts

To change how we view this path that we walk on;

Talk on this endless road

Hop around like Tiana’s toad;

Or was it a frog?

Don’t start the clog in our brains.

A simple being to change the story we share

With the unfinished models, we created so long ago,

These little, feeble treasures,

To be claimed and cherished for all of the eternity

Must never fall into the wrong hands.

If you aren’t ready

Don’t make the clay.

It’s a simple way of thinking.

Truly revolutionary, actually.

To think of others equally.

Look within

And see how evolution

Has split our paths

From that first apple tree.

Look beneath

Because the surface is so boring sometimes;

Plain

When compared to the livid flames created by the hopeless souls.

Compact,

Into a small organ

That does the living for you

All by being the boss.

Who said bossy people couldn’t rule the world?

As I see it,

Anyone is capable enough.

Application is the key to the door

That you must question if you are brave enough to go through.

Trust me,

I’ve learned for myself

That the key isn’t so easy to turn.

It burns the hand of the beholder

And scalds the wits of the witty.

From the depths of your determination must breathe something more.

Something raw.

Something with so much power and such a small package.

Hope is a slippery thing, you know?

Running from your grasps like the quickest of fish,

Needing to be caught in a silver dish

Just to be accepted as part of the group.

The scales don’t make the fish

But do you agree that clothes make the man?

The woman, or the person?

Anyone can understand that the world is not black or white,

Colors splattered down every flight of stairs.

No matter where you’re headed or where you’ve gone.

No matter the rights you have wronged.

If you look beneath,

It all will change

The surface destroyed by rain.

Look again,

Your view might change.

Your kaleidoscope might rearrange.

Let us pretend that the world is flawless,

Not a hair out of place,

No answers you need to erase.

Let’s replace the light with the knowledge of the universe.

How everything used and how much use it has to us.

Contemplate a change of pace,

Left in the clouds to erase

And be chased away

By the impending doom

Brought forth by the impending gloom

That we all saw coming but weren’t prepared for.

Watch us lying on the dirt floor,

Watching the stars pass by for the last time.

Before the future takes away our past.

Maybe what we thought was a sign was actually a superstition.

Brought together by people within?

Could we win

The ultimate contest

For a flawless human;

Only the best

Will be taken to the depths of the universe.

Nobody gets that trip.

Biases cloud judgment.

We all have flaws

Even though we all “love” the laws.

The things that continue

To hold us back;

Give this heart an attack.

Look again

And the things we thought we knew,

Because what do we know at all?

Watch the years pass you by

Like a train you forgot to catch

Speeding past the gears working in your head.

Cheers to the people that doubted you the most

Look again

And realize

How much you’ve missed

And how many things

You could’ve done.

Calm down, the rustling leaves don’t trust you.

Is there something in your eyes you must do

To prove yourself worthy in front of your crew

Or is this just for you?

Paint a picture,

But don’t forget to blend the colors,

Or it might be too chopped

For consumption.

Watch me spin a web with words as its fibers.

Took it to my grave to revive her.

Realise her passion for the arts that work into liars.

Forcing them to revoke their spines

Their courage, broken, to be replaced with shards of glass

Rippling with shivers as I pass;

By the feeble hairs on my chinny chin chin

Will the underdogs win?

Watch as they throw the goals in the bin.

Couldn’t these things happen?

An equal and opposite reaction?

Then the one we prepared for wholly?

Is it possible

That we were mistaken

When we took advantage

Of our state of mind?

When we took advantage

Of our resources?

When we took advantage

Of our brothers and sisters?

Change the way you think about the world around you.

Detach yourself from society’s iron grasp.

Find something new to clasp to.

An unfinished sentence,

Never finished with a sandwich.

Land in the darkest of clouds.

Panic and anxiety do they shroud.

But today might show

How the glows of the stars around us

Might prevent the darkness

From coming

Into

The light

That we

Have created.
