Hide and Seek

Emotions should not be hidden, unless they are a secret.

If emotion
Was a sin
Then should they be hidden
Like an endless game
Of hide and seek?
Should they be buried
In the dirt
Right next to your hopes and dreams?
Should they be burned
In a blazing inferno
Never to return?
Should they be constantly and strategically moved
In a new place everyday?
Should they be compacted and released only
In the moments when the air is only yours
And you are hidden from the world?
Or should they be shown, good or bad, to people of all natures?
Even if one of those people constantly uses that emotion as a whip
Cracking it against your bare skin
The sound
Echoing
Into
Oblivion?

An interesting work here about emotional expression. The speaker is describing emotional repression at first, followed by catharsis, followed by negative effects of the latter. All that can be said is that there is a time to speak and a time to be silent and the part of wisdom lies in recognizing the difference.

I try to make it somewhat cryptic as to divert the reader from the double meaning, but not enough so the double meaning is impossible to reach.
