My breathe was caught in my throat as I ran through the trees. Fallen branches snapped under my feet. Unfortunately, the one chasing me was just as fast. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. The muddy ground suddently shifted under my feet and I fell hard. My eyes were of no use to me now. My body shook as the footsteps came all too close. I felt a cold hand grab my bare shoulder and a scream flew past my pale lips. The hand released me, but I screamed again. Their breathing sounded even, as if they had only been walking. I could no longer feel my body move. A sickly warmth grew in my stomache. Not bothering to lift my head, tears formed at the bottom of my light eyes. I was caught.
There was faint breathing and a soft slamming sound. My ears twitched. Was I in the hospital or the bed I ran from? I lifted my right arm slowly and draped it over my eyes. My entire body felt heavy and sore. The fall must have taken its toll on me when it had the chance. A small gasp made my eyes snap open. My arm was a shield from any lights around me. Hushed voices made my ear burn. I couldn't have been in the hospital. Something warm touched my shoulder. I jumped back, sending myself sideways. When I hit the floor, the sidetable fell next to my head. A plastic lamp rolled across the floor. All footsteps around me stopped. I groaned, not moving from my place on the floor. Thick silence filled the room. My mind turned blank.
