Happiness...

Happiness...

A Poem by Tracie Skarbo

Happiness is being bold enough

To look for your passion

And embracing it when you have found it

It is when you let your passion become what it must be

And having the strength to evolve into who you will become

While it is in service to you

When you are not afraid of stepping out

When everyone else tells you

That you are a fool

Those who have these words for you

Have not heard the call

Of what is

Or they are too afraid of

The light and the call

To grasp it for themselves

They don’t want you to step higher

Or stretch further

In knowledge of yourself; lest they be left behind

So they struggle to pull you back

Into darkness

Into their fettered confusion

Pulling a yoke from anywhere

To define you

With promises that this will make you whole and substantial

Placing debt, the sacrament, upon your shoulders

Until you suffocate beneath its weight

The depression cured, if you take their pills

This is how they like you; blinders make the obedient horse

Unplug yourself, take back the reins

Look deep within yourself

Courage on to see who it is behind your eyes

Determine what is truly important

Meet your dragon and draw your sword

Happiness is finding your passion

Recognizing it when you see it

And being brave enough to live it

Well, this is lovely. I really enjoyed this piece...you did a great job of making your point very clear...I have felt this way myself before...help back by those who did not want to see me surpass them...Wonderful job here.

Okay. That is how I feel about this poem. It is well written. There are no glaring changes that I would make... no blatant mistakes...
It is just that...
it reads more like a moral essay to me, like you are instructing me on how to live and why other people live the way that they do. Like that's fine, it may be exactly what you were going for, I just never did take kindly to people talking to me this way and I guess I don't like reading things that are said in this way. I am sorry, I just always try to write exactly what I feel while I review things on this site because I figure if I say something that you didn't see and it wasn't the way that you wanted it to come across you might see something about it that YOU want to change to get the intended effect.

or you could say, f**k off, you brat, this is exactly what I wanted. That's okay too, I wouldn't be offended, I just feel like it is my duty to give my true feelings on everything.

ah if only 't were that simple. A good positive mental attitude... What when your passion is another who says no...?
thought-provoking write... 'meet your dragon' - remember you forgot to sharpen your sword...

I found this on a day that I was low due to some nonsense involving others; the piece lifted me and gave me new resolution.
Thanks

Thats so true, I found out that Hapiness is moments, that we live , if we collect more hapiness moments we become Happier.

Unto your own self be true or similar?

To live a good heart-felt life doing what pleases without hurting another must be the greatest dream a human being can have, We were born one, we remain one and should never forget it,

Your poem talks of people being wary of one's difference and progress almost as if it's their due .. but the due is self found, discovered day by day by day .. '

Happiness is indeed finding your passion' ,, finding the right place for YOU and being content in and with it 'And being brave enough to live it ' To walk a path and accept both its weeds and flowers and see them all as beautiful is real life ..

Thank you for reminding me
