Why do I write?

Why do I write?

A Story by Tracie Skarbo

I write because frankly if I didn't I would be in trouble. Deep trouble. I would be subject to nights full of tossing and turning as I searched for my slumber. I would be a sleepless zombie woken at all hours of the night. You see when I get an idea, it is like a child having a tantrum until I pacify it with a bottle of pulp, or give it a ream of paper to chew. The idea will be there, bouncing about in my head until I give it the words it deems appropriate. Only then will it stop screaming in my ear, the text, and words of meaning seem to lull the ideas to sleep. Then and only then, can I get some shuteye of my own.

Oh god, you too Tigra! You probably get up in the middle of the night because you woke up and you finally found or thought up, that perfect line, or part to the puzzle? Lol Oh god its a curse I tell you.

Thank god for curses huh lol!
I'm glad I'm not alone in the dark.
Its comforting to know someone else is up awake with the same affliction :)

Thanks for this Tigra
I'm not a freak afterall, well not totally at least.

Good to know i am not the only one. I was having a reacurring dream and eventually put it to paper. It didn't go anywhere (so far) but the dream has gone

This was an amazing visualization of the writing bug that has captivated so many here at the Cafe. I imagine most here will relate perfectly to your profound expression. Truly glad you write!

That was really nice..
why do I write..I so agree with you for it happened to me a lot,at night, when usually thoughts
come mostly when I try to sleep..sometimes they come even half asleep, its like in dreams
whats more I write because being creative gives you the greatest pleasure on earth
and next..I write to tell people of my thoughts and ideas and anything I come up with
It shortens the distances between people..they come to understand each other more..
I know about the Russians through their writers maybe more than the Russians themselves
and so the British and the Americans,ha ha,I could go all around the continent and back
I know about the years from the seventeenth century till this day..it tells me how people used to live
I think they were much more sane than us these days..it was a simple life
though they were stupid at times ha ha,but life was nice..there was not much hatred like today
life was never complicated like today..so you see,I write so that people know how I think..
and I know how they think..its the best way to bring the world together, and make it safer, and lovelier
lovely write..

Well thank you so much for sharing that, I am always intrigued by why people write, I for years had an idea for a book then finally had to start trying to write it before my head exploded, then after my mom passing and my divorce I found poetry as a source of emotional release then as another form of art. I couldn't stop writing now if I wanted too. I am glad you did start writing for you have blessed us with some great artwork.
