Appraisal

Appraisal

A Poem by Tracie Skarbo

Reading it over he said
            “Yes it will do.”

Right then I knew
By the expression on his face

Trying to hold back
            He didn’t know I knew

What I did was right
By letting my feelings show that night

The paper so silent
            Yet so meaningful

His comments brief
            Yet to my relief

He liked it
            I felt so proud

I could have laughed out loud!

I like this and can certainly relate to it. Sometimes it takes only a few words to or a nod to let someone know you approve of their work. And letting feeling show in writing is for many of us, easier than expressing them face to face as the need for approval can make us feel tongue tied.

There is such a joy when another finds approval in what we do and your words express this emotional experience so well. Wonderful write!

We always look for appropval from those that we love...although he wasn't overwhelming in his approval, but he knew exactly what he had to do, subtle as it was. Now I would like to read what he approved. lol

This was a very cute piece. lol I like the secret behind the words. I love poems with inferences to what was said. Excellent piece. :-)

Oh such a memory of such appraisal - if true, a deeply etched memory.

Your poetry is virtual minimalism .. your words are selected and used very sparingly but superbly.

I'm going to ask friends to read your posts .. they really are special.
