I Confess

I Confess

A Poem by †Tracey†

My confession to you
is long overdue

as my heart pours itself out
like a fine red wine

My tongue burns from the
sins of the past

retrograde of a love we
once knew

(Lets remember what brought
me to this place)

A sword...of a man not a boy
pushed through my body as you
held me up by the throat

(No chance for me)

I watched you as the life left
my body...your distorted face
in sheer pleasure

It's this time..no other
that has pierced me through
the ages
Anguish being fed by the memory
of  you

(It's for this I have to confess
my untruths)

Your betrayal of me...led
me to betray myself
lies dripping like raindrops
of the edge of my dreams
slowly, singly, purging
pieces of me

To you I confess
that I wanted you to feel
the way you made me
feel to suffer in the way
you made me suffer

(Yet dear one
I cannot let it be)

No trading places..faces
so in this my confession
I release your soul to that

(moment)

I forgive you

Poetess,
I love your journey of no itinerary
as you shape and re-shape yourself in love.

Soulful in the original sense of the word...it is full of your soul. All that you are...your passion, your awareness, your spirituality...is here. All of it. And a well-written piece on top of that. This is one of your finer works, Tracey.

This is a powerful write, structured perfectly with a brutal ending.

As works like this...revenge poetry, call it what you will... this is sensational. Not sensationalist. It has a depth and pain that screams hate, but concludes with a reluctant resolution that is, possibly, inevitable. A stunning work that takes my breath away. A superb poem.
