War

War

A Poem by Treylee
"

Just my perspective

"
War.

Started over something that looks a lot like nothing,
Fought bravely and obediently by those trusting.

Bloodshed and minds lost for power and money,
Too bad those in charge won’t know what it’s like to lose their buddy.

And I ask you all, for what? Can you tell me?
Because I never see those men in suits taking a knee.

They sit up high in their offices looking fat and happy,
Meanwhile another kid comes home covered in a flag because he always wanted to fight, just like his pappy.

Little did that kid know it’s all just a face,
A well disguised machine for such a disgrace.

Innocents dying, men, women, children, and all
From the time the sun comes up until nightfall.

Abuse of power and people treat it like a game,
But if it was their son or daughter I bet they wouldn’t look at it the same.

Those over there fighting, they mean well.
I just wish we were doing more for them to be proud of here, while they are there going through hell.
