Chapter Two : Normality II

Chapter Two : Normality II

A Chapter by Chichichiyo
"

The Mornings are Quite Nice, Especially the early ones. You can faintly hear the singing as it dies down . . .

"
"Taru . .  I really hope you're okay . . "
Saki sighed as she plopped herself down on a large, pink blanket over her bed
for she was standing up and walking around nervously when she talked with her friend.
Two blue, clear orbs stared up into the ceiling where there were stars dangling down by strings,
the same stars that Taru and Saki themselves put up when they were little kids
when everything was so easy .  . . . . so simple.
She was in her room, so very pink and you could say: plump.
It was filled with very cute things, for that was the girl . .  she . . . kind of . . is.
All from stuffed bears to pink notebooks.
These were the things she treasured most
although if you knew her at school you would think otherwise.
From the open window, you could see through the window that the sun was already up,
slowly illuminating the sleeping world
and she was already ready to get to school at a time so early.
Saki was already in her uniform, a checkered skirt with a white, collared shirt on top
with a nice, little, red ribbon to top off the look.
Saki had gotten up early just to talk to Taru just to make sure she as well would not be late.
She was really worried about him.
"Arghh!!! Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!"
Saki muttered to herself as she lightly hit her own head with two, small fists and rolled around her bed,
endangering the outfit that was so neatly put on,
"I should have said something else!!'
Saki felt as if she had made things worse for Taru,
reminding him of things like that and she . .  felt that its her fault now
if he mopes around class . .  like the day before.
Oh, what a very concious girl Saki is.
She felt like an idiot and she continued rolling around until she felt tired
and until her hair needed to be fixed again
and until her cheeks were red from doing so
and when the thought of Saki's face entered her mind when he found out that his aunt died.
Yes, she was right there and watched the entire thing go down.
Remembering those moments pained Saki;
especially when she was asked to leave afterward.
It was when they had gotten home and there were these strange people in his house.
Because they had some tests coming up, of course she would be there to study with him.
Only that night, there wasn't any studying done.
The flashback to that memory made Saki shudder and her eyes water,
for she had never lost anyone
and the thought of losing anyone would boggle her entire world.

It has started when they has just arrived at Taru's apartment,
laughing about what Makai, Saki's sister, had said during lunch.
It was right after school, they had gone straight home because there was no club meeting
and because there were tests, they had the afternoon to study.
Taru was pulling up his motorcycle right in front,
and was now parking it right when Saki jumped off and removed her helmet.
"Well, isn't it true?"
Saki had asked, lightly giggling in between as she stepped down
while the breeze ran through her hair,
"Don't you think that frying anything would make it taste better?"
It was a silly topic,
but it was those little things that would make them happy.
Those little things that would make him happy.
Taru removed his helmet to laugh as well
and thought about all the things they could fry when he took out his lock.
"That would be disgusting though if we were frying something . .  I don't know like . . "
he thought about it as he cast his brown eyes out into the mountains and then at Saki,
"Sweets, or anything that is sweet. You don't want to fry those do you?"
Taru chuckled as he knelt down to fasten the device and remained standing, chuckling with him.
It was then a thought occurred to her.
"Well, maybe you could ask your aunt to try frying sweets~"
she suggested, Saki's eyes glowing a happy blue at the thought,
"She is such a great cook! And so pretty too! You're so lucky to have an aunt like that!"
Saki stomped her foot on the ground, pouting and crossing her arms playfully.
Meanwhile Taru sighed, probably thinking that she didn't know the half of it.
Taru's aunt, his only family left, was quite the looker as Saki mentioned.
Her name was Miyami Shuuji, bearing chestnut eyes as well as some
of the features that Taru had inherited.
Miyami was very zealous and would always tease Taru of the littlest of things
so it had taken some to accept when Saki had said she wanted to come over.
It would usually be about his social life and it would never be about his grades.
Maybe she really didn't have the right to complain since he did better than her when she was in High School.
Saki had also been around Miyami too, especially when they were kids.
The aunt would come over whenever her sister, Taru's late mother,
would invite her and those days were especially fun.
To sum it all up, Miyami was a great aunt, according to Saki.
"Well, she should be home."
Taru breathed out as he stood up, done fidgeting with the lock,
"Look, the lights are on."
The pointed up to the second floor
where there was an open window and some little decorations on the windowsill.
Then he turned his head back to where Saki was standing and smiled saying,
"Let's go inside now, she will be happy seeing you."
and started to walk, expecting her to follow behind.
It took a while to reach the second floor,
and when they made it, they heard hushed voices,
voices that he knew did not belong to his aunt or anyone he knew behind the wooden door.
"The poor boy. Should we really tell him?"
one person asked, a male perhaps, in a pitiful tone.
"Of Course."
another male replied in a brusque manner,
"He's already in High School. You make it sound like he's a kindergartner."
Taru and Saki stopped and listened in behind the door for more
and wondered what was going on.
It showed clearly in the voices inside that something bad must have happened.
And it would always be in the movies you know,
those times when someone has to tell someone their friend was injured
and they had to tell someone to let them know or something like that . .  .
only, they really should next time knock on the door when the person that they want to tell gets home
rather than barge in uninvited.
Taru, who looked somewhat angry took out the keys from his pocket which made a jingling noise
and quickly unlocked the door, grabbing the knob and pushing it wide open
where we spot two police officers, a man and a woman who were standing in the living room area
both looking down at the small and cheap coffee table that came with the apartment.
Both then abruptly looked at the two of us,
scanning and eyeing us, looking at Taru more than I did.
"Oh,"
one of them realized, pulling out the small medal and showing it to us,
"Are you Taru Shuuji?"
Taru nodded quietly and Saki stood there behind him, not knowing what to do.
The man who spoke looked as if he wanted to speak again,
but then couldn't take it and shook his head, looking over at his partner
who she can tell wondered how he would take this and became hesitant as well.
"Why don't you sit down, this. . . is important."
the other guard warmly said and then looked at Saki, which made her flinch.
"Should she be here?"
Taru looked back and then nodded.
It was as if he knew what was going on while Saki was a little confused.
She was all too caught up in what was going on to clearly think.
"T-Tar--"
she tried to call, but before she even noticed,
he was already walking toward the small couch to sit down,
and Saki had no choice but to follow silently as the guards looked at both of us with eyes filled with pity.
What happened next was what you could expect
and Taru brought his head down to his hands after hearing it,
silently accepting the fact . .  just on the verge of crying.
Saki could only sit and stare at them just as they stood up and started to leave.
But before they did . . . .
"Hey young girl."
a guard asked, Saki turning to him with teary, blue orbs,
"I was told that this place had two occupants. A woman and her nephew."
Saki nodded quietly, still too shocked to speak.
"Maybe you should  . .  you know . . give the young man his . . "
the guard nodded his head to the side, pointing to the outside of the door in which the other guard opened.
Saki looked down and Taru who still remained in that state and she stood up,
realizing that she had to give him his privacy.
In the end, she had to go,
although she somewhat regretted that decision when she got home.
For the next morning, he did not come to school.
It was only the morning after that he came, but he was moping.

"Maybe I really should have stayed." Saki sighed as she sat up,
just coming back from the flashback,
"I had to leave though . . what else could I do . . I won't know anything about loss."
Indeed, she had never lost someone important to her yet.
Saki had a big, strong family . .
and that night, she hated herself for it.
A knock on the door suddenly woke her up from her thoughts
and she looked to the side to find that her sister, Makai, peeking through the door.
"Oooohhh. Your awake, I see."
Makai yawned, covering her mind as she entered her sister's room, closing the door behind her,
long and flowing locks of dark brown following behind her.
She was in a large, white shirt and some shorts, revealing two long and perfect legs.
Upon hearing her sister, Saki sighed again.
"Good Morning Makai."
Saki greeted,
"What is it, is something the matter?"
she looked up at her big sister who still seemed to be half-asleep, a little wobbly on the feet.
Makai then looked down at Saki and sat next to her, wrapping her arms around Saki's neck,
her brown hair tickling her cheeks.
"H-hey, what's wrong! Get off me!"
Saki protested, trying to remove the hands that were wrapping around tighter and tighter,
"I'm not a pillow, okay!? I just got dressed!"
She wiggled around and then finally pushed Makai away, who sighed afterward and crossed her legs,
looking around at the pink world she was in with distracted eyes then back at Saki.
"Why can't I visit little sister's room because I want to say good morning~?"
Makai whined, shrugging her shoulders and standing up as if to look high and mighty,
"There's no special reason I'm--"
"You can't lie to me."
Saki interrupted her, sounding tired of Makai's usual rants.
This was kind of normal whenever Makai would wake up or get home . .  or just wanted to tease her.
There was a silence that dragged on for a moment between them
and then Makai just gave up and sat down again next to Saki
this time with a smirk on her face and a mischievous look in her eyes.
"Okay then, you got me."
Makai admitted, putting her hands behind her head and lying down on one of the pink pillows,
"Just wanted to let you know that your boyfriend's here with his motorcycle outside."
She sounded very casual when she said this, although her litlle sister did not act the same way.
Saki's eyes widened and she rushed to the window to find that Taru was waiting out there, his helmet on and
everything, the bike making a purring sound that sounded like a cats; only more louder and mechanic.
Then, she realized that she had showed it again, especially to her sister, that she had . . .
She was not going to do it again.
So, Saki cleared her throat and turned around, facing Makai, who had fallen asleep, with a serious and calm face.
"He is not my boyfriend."
she talked with herself as she walked by her and opened the door to exit,
"And Please do get out of my room Makai."
and then closed it as if Makai could hear her.
