You Promised me...

You Promised me...

A Poem by ToriSchrodi

You promised to protect me.
Then you became the very thing attacking me.
You became the thing hurting me the most.

Why did you betray me?
Why did you hug me,
tell me that everything was going to be okay...
to trust you...
and then you buried a knife in my back.

You help me as I fell to the ground.
As the blood stained me red.
My heart was shattered.
You whispered, "It's okay."
As I grabbed onto you.
Looking into your eyes.
Every piece of me shattering as I fell to the cold ground.

You act as if someone else did it...
But you did this.
You did this to me.

You promised me...
And you betrayed me.
Why?

I wanted to help.
I wanted to be your friend.
You told me you cared.
I still think you do.
I think you got scared.
Because I was getting too close.
Too close to you.
So you pushed me away.
And you stabbed me in the back.

You promised to protect me...
I guess your word means nothing.

Differentiating a friend-like foe is difficult.. Backstabbing..betrayal...the price of communicating with such.. You write beautifully.. Nice reading it..

The image of supporting and subsequently stabbing are such a contrast that the reader is tossed and thrown. The journey in this one is visceral.
Well written indeed.
