Try Understanding Me

Try Understanding Me

A Poem by Tonya's CoffeeWrites
"

This poem was written by me when my grandfather was suffering with Alzheimer's disease. This was written from the eyes of someone with Alzheimer's.

"
When I look blankly at you,
it does not mean I don’t love you.
When I don’t understand,
it does not mean that I am stupid.
When I close my eyes,
I’m trying hard to remember.
I know there is something missing,
though my brain can not reach at it.
I’m confused yes,
but I’m still human.
Don’t feel sorry for me,
don’t be so angry.
I require patience and understanding,
I deserve love and respect.
I have lived a long life now,
many memories I have stored.
Though I do not have access to them now,
you however do.
Hold on to them for me,
keep them in your heart.
For physically I am still here,
I will forever be in your heart.
The memories you have of me,
will forever be.
Always remember one thing,
I love you, that will never change.
