Casting Runes

Casting Runes

A Poem by Tony Noon
"

A poem about the absurdity of trying to make sense of senseless things.

"

I am casting runes now.

Trying to make up for

the moon’s cold shoulder.

Refusing to be called down

was the giddy limit for me.

Supposed to be a last straw

it left me in complete darkness.

There must be sense here but

I can’t see it despite fine tuning.

All I know is that I am left here

weighing the relative value of

snake oils while your essence

drips away without explanation.

I've read a few of your poems, and the way you can almost...I don't know how to describe it, like, wrap around a topic, but never really say it, describing it in such an intricate way, is impressive. my favorite stanza is "There must be sense here but I can’t see it despite fine tuning." This completely is that absurdity that you planned to write about, searching for something that isn't there, prodding for something which doesn't exist. Great work, Tony !
