PITY Them...

PITY Them...

A Poem by Tony Jordan

Watch how they behave
And what they say -
adept as they are at
fashioning cruelty
they will take the 'L' from their
JEALOUSY
~ like a glass blower of hatred
they will craft it into the word
'LIAR'
then they will throw it in your direction
while it still glows;
white hot with their vileness and
hope that it hits you
hope that it sticks to your
gentleness
hope that it burns you
hope that it scars you for life
pity them
for they are merely serving their
apprenticeship
here on Earth
serving their time for
a much longer position in a
much hotter realm...

Our planet's rotting, so many of its population thrive on the stink they themselves are creating in one way or another. Every day, the Media is full of evil.. every evening the sun sinks and hides itself.. not because thats what its supposed to do, but because it wants to find somewhere to hide.

You're right,Tony, every line, every thought behind it.. Sweet words, loyalty, courage, courtesy, diplomacy, belief. .And so much more has been lost along Man's dodgy history. Hard to keep positive, keep hoping, trusting that things will improve. Makes for tears inthe Cafe, in our countries, in the shadows... Everywhere.

Great post: a tragedy echoed minute after minute world wide.

I pity more those to whom harm has been done.
The guilty rightfully receive justice; the innocent are, for no defensible reason, served bitter portions of injustice.
On the other hand, Hell seems too terrible a punishment for any human being. So, perhaps, I can manage a very small portion of pity for the hateful b******s you so eloquently and brilliantly expose.

A vitriolic rebuff to insincerity and those who would humiliate and abuse others.

Thank you for this. As you know, there have been several postings that address the brouhaha that went on here at WC recently. Your poem may not have been intended as this, but to me, it is. All the others were so wrapped up in their emotional reactions (totally understandable), & their writings were blunt & straightforward (which I usually prefer). But in this case, you've taken an unpleasant experience & crafted it into art. I can only hope to slow myself down & express myself artfully like this, when I'm feeling a rant coming on! *wink! wink!* Great job. This is a universal message, not just for the recent brouhaha. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I think this is the most powerful write of yours I've read so far in its content, phrasing and the blast one feels while reading - that is brilliant.
I too love the L thing you said here though I have a hard time believing anyone could be such a maniac lol or so dense or as I like to call 'farigh' 😛😂
I'd say they don't even deserve pity (at least mine lol) more like indifference on my part :p

A good one, Tony. Hits right on the nail here ;) :)

Whew. I would not wish to be on the receiving end of this. Your candor and honesty cut to the core and leave nothing to question.

Every word so very true - how jealousy morphs into the many weapons the jealous wield. This is a marvelous angle.

I continue to go back to a single line, over and over. It rakes my heart. "hope that it scars you for life." It is a sad statement jealousy can turn so poisonous, that the very gentle skin we desire and love so dearly is that one we scar with hateful venom.

Reading this poem over and over, I am comforted by its understanding, and yet, convicted by its broader implications. How often have I cast stones in a jealous fury? How often have I struck with every intent to leave scars?

You offer a double edged weapon of honest conviction with this piece, my friend. Perhaps I hold it too closely and examine it too personally, but I will hold it as a reminder for myself just the same.

Thank you for sharing this. I would love to rave on and on about your phrasing, vocabulary choice, the flow... all of those things you achieve with seeming ease, but today, I think I just want to say thank you for turning my outward glaring eye inward.

i love this...fighting violence with gentleness...it is hard to turn the other cheek, but violence just breeds violence...and payback doesn't always end things.

I hope our world can be a little more kinder and gentler without the greed, hate and viscous jealousy. Calling people this and that is destructive of trust and the common good. Whoa!
