The long kiss

The long kiss

A Poem by Tony Jordan
"

The heart wants what it wants and disregards the rest

"
Have you ever
heard a thought scream
from the eyes of your lover -

Saw her fears writ
large in her loving words
each time she kisses you

goodbye?

Have you felt her pride deep
in the flowered silences
which follow your spiritual union

Did you both apologise when you met
- tears streaming
tears of thankfulness and regret;
For not looking harder

For not searching
with all your wits and energy

with every piece of you

For settling

For despicably conforming

For giving up...

Beautifully expressed write. I sense a lot of emotions, also twists and discrepancies in here somehow I can't truly express but only feel. Your writing feels like a fragile flower heavy with the weight of the world, of everything. Makes me imagine of dew or rain on petals. I'm sorry, sometimes it's just images and emotions I get from a writing and am able to express but this is such an effortlessly marvelous poem about the layers and depths of love.

it happens...relationships start differently from what they become...there is that traditional something...works its way in there...we are suppose to become...we lose ourselves in the relationship and gradually lose each other.

To answer your question here, No, I haven't.. But I certainly know how that feels like..

Being a soldier for many years. I saw the final goodbye many times and after a time. Less painful. The poem asked important questions. Thank you Tony for sharing the excellent poetry.
