Ungrateful man..

Ungrateful man..

A Poem by Tom
"

With my love of the land pen in hand..

"
" Get back, get back ungrateful man
get back from whence ye came,
I gave with blessing Mother earth
your very own world to tame

These days I look, observe ruin
and it brings on teared eye,
my gift to you once bright blue
now fades to grey as I sigh

Birds, bees, bemoths of air, land
and countless fish of salty sea,
  once myraid, diversity in decline
  such wilful arrogance saddens me

And as earth dwindles, dies forlorn
  uncaring, ye seek virgin domain,
  travel at hypervelocity in spacecraft
designed by one so selfish, vain

I will not countenance, nor proffer
  generousity, only to once again,
be denounced, a new earth laid waste..
So speak I, Father Universe in disdain!"

I feel the message and agree completely but one thing I know and that is that no matter what we do down here below. The universe has more power to undo what we have done and in the end when we are gone all will become a new world the universe has won. A great message of stewardship gone awry.

How much over millennia have we passed on the ingrate’s gene! Will we listen, those of us with ears to hear and eyes to read? 👍🏻

This rhyme is so amazing to read, like a classic literature threading value so smoothly and the significant message it tells of is carrying through the lines very well, I sense the growing greed of mankind, never looking around to witness what effects their actions leave behind, never to be concerned of what they ruin shall turn on them one day with double the amount of destruction they are ever capable to make. This poem strikes hard, a saddening truth boldy spoken with that perspective. Amazing read!

Reminds me of idiots like the faux-genius Elon Musk and his ilk. All that dude's virtue signalling fantasy land BS about saving the species by colonizing Mars while trashing the planet that is actually habitable and treating people in general like s**t... that guy is an a*****e, pretty much all of those guys are a******s. They are not taking care of anything nor do they have any intentions to. It's all just a sales pitch or grift if you prefer. These uber wealthy titans of industry are supposed to be the best of us, they are supposed to be bringing the species forward, raising all standards of living and making life more satisfying to exist in... instead they just use the species to advance personal interest at virtually any cost they can get away with. They are not good stewards of our species potential... they limit the whole over many generations just to advance individual interests. Oh well, everyone dies in the end anyway. The universe makes sure that whatever this is, it is only ever temporary for us... which is actually a pretty sweet gift. Too much of anything without an ending seems like it would become a nightmare to me.

A wonderful message for us human beings is brought across in this very insightful and thought provoking poem through excellent word choice. I am able to hear an angry voice from Father Universe and who could blame him for being outraged as he sees the beautiful world given to us in total disarray at our hands. I can never understand the voyages into space, the vast amount of money spent on them which could go a very long way towards helping the 'Third World' and looking for planets to move to in order to live there when we are unable to live in peace in the beautiful planet we presently live on. Nature will win in the end! A new generation, new ways, new hopes and wishes in union with the universe and we could experience a little piece of Heaven right here on earth. A v-e-r-y powerful message in this poem, Tom. Thank you for writing it and thank you for sharing...

Most welcome always, Tom. I so enjoyed reading your poem and thank you again for sharing it...
Perhaps man is the universe in this piece, and the universe is destroying what we have on this earth…. Or to be political, man is destroying man and we have no control over it…..we know that everything dies at some time, man and nature alike…. And there is great devastation caused by man and the universe as welll…who is really responsible for this? A complex problem for sure…and is someone watching us?
Great writing Tom, you gave it a good run!

Tom,
"man is destined to die once." Hebrews 9:27 It is our arrogance, pride, and hubris to think we could somehow spread ourselves far enough to destroy another world... what kind of fantasyland are we living in these days? It is not only the Earth's resources it is also our humanity. We forsake our freedom to think for ourselves, to go where we want to go, be what were created to be, and live with honor. Our leaders are us in the mirror.
Nice manifesto.

So we do over use and throw things away without thinking of the long term consequences. Plastic will be our demise. Should have stayed with glass that can be recycled and autoclaved and reused.

Man can surely be ungrateful to God, country, fellow man. I feel the rebuke of the poet to those types. Using old English language, the poet urges all to be grateful.
