"O summer sun where hath thy gone"? I just love the olde English, Tom. I love this wonderful ode to the missing sunshine. Somebody must have kidnapped the sun. We would willing pay a small ransome to have it back, we are so desperate at the moment. Never seen such a bad month of June before! It's as cold, wet and windy as the month of October! I guess your weather must be something the same? I love how you name out all the various things which benefit from the warmth of the sun and what things won't be available for the coming winter due to the lack of the sunshine also. The never ending bad weather is depressing and you make that point strongly in the ending lines of the poem. Great depiction! Excellent word choice! Only wish the sun could read your poem and chase all the clouds, rain, wind and cold away. What a joy it would be! Exceptional write, Tom. Love it! Thank you for sharing...

Friday next is the longest day, and days will begin very slowly to get shorter after that. Summer will soon make way for Autumn! But, we will keep hoping. Thank you again for sharing, Tom...
Having now read this little gem several times .. when I closed my eyes I at first I saw nothing but banks of gold, bronze and creams .. it was like having a personal autumnal kaleidoscope pinned to the back of my lids .. and then, when I opened them, the sun was streaming through the blinds .. Like magic .. thanks for that Tom .. Neville

An inspiring, insighful review many thanks to you, Sir Neville! 🤯
Love the use of past wordage and style back in time when we actually had four seasons, clothes to match, hours to live by.. .. instead of the chaos weather offers Man these days, Tom. Yes, global warming has grabbed style and schedule to open space even more than it should be opened and.. left behind a frantic wake. You offer so much when you put pen to paper, eyes to screen, playing games with settled thoughts, introducing newness however when the heat of day manoevres - if you have the energy and open mind. Always inviting must add!
''O summer sun, show not undue temperance
be effervescent, brazen, bold and bind,
cast off cloaked veil that shrouds blue sky
so with thy divine, illuminating power
renew the land, uplift hearts of men in kind 🌞'

Your golden quill hast set to pen of page a most captivating and contemplative piece of fine Poetry as a Poem that I have truly enjoyed the reading and savoring of ...
I laughed to myself as I read along here in the states, West Texas to be precise, where temperatures have been at 100 degrees Fahrenheit or close to it all the month of September wherein said month I was born in 1954 ... But as I read, your lines sank home, and I began to hear the pitter patter of fresh rain upon my window just outside, caressed by a touch of lightening's thunder to insure that I knew such rain was the latter rain of crops sundried ...
Excellent work ...

Beautiful imagery you have created Tom. We are in Brixham. The mists have just rolled inland from the sea. Can’t see a thing, however I am assured that there will be plenty of golden sun this week and for that I am hopeful. Brazen, yes let it be brazen in its October glow. Love that word. Have a great day and thanks for a most enjoyable read.

Now wouldn’t that be luvverly? Would make the winter period feel shorter :)
I wish the summer sun would go the heck away from Alabama. We're headed towards October and it is still too freaking hot, no rain in sight and I'm trying to keep my lemon tree seedlings from shriveling. I do enjoy how well you expressed your sentiment, though. This poem is full of longing and imagery. I can feel the wistful melancholy in every line.

Dear Tom,
This ode to the departing summer sun captures the imagination and the hearts of your reader. You've described the summer sun in such sumptuous and rich terms, the imagery shines bright from the page. The difference that a sunny day makes to the mood, it's uplifting effect is so palpable, I dread the grey clouds of gloom. And when the winter months arrive, all we can do is keep that summer sun alive in our spirit. Wonderfully written, my friend! 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼

Everyone seems to worship the sun... for its light and warmth... and it enables us to be nourished as well as our land... so beware the clouds that veil it, spare your space and let the sun boast its prescience....
Really nice Tom,
Warmly, B
