A place to call home..

A place to call home..

A Poem by Tom

A place to call home..

I wandered here several years ago
a country cottage, delapidated,
overgrown, ghost landlord, without
hesitation, lease agreement signed
at long last, a place to call my own

Nowadays, I'm easy in solitude,
notwithstanding cockeral's crow,
bleeting of mama yew, anxious
offspring don't stray, buzz of buzy
honeybee, pollinator of purpled
headed thistles and other flowery
topped greenery, folk likely know
as weeds...

Still, I don't mind their intrusive spread
afterall, I can always trim and prune
back, though that would mean less
nector to collect for the bee, whatsmore,
risk exposure to my blissful exile

I just adore the beautiful ease with which this amazing poem is penned. I feel you experience a beautiful peace in your home, Tom and that you are close to Mother Nature there. This beautiful piece of heaven was earmarked by Fate for you to live in and I feel you have thrived in the blessed solitude which surrounds you. I love that you have your very own live alarm clock, Tom (laughing and hoping you don't throw a shoe out the window at him!) and a home for the bees to visit as they collect nectar. I hope you leave some water with a teaspoon of sugar out for them to keep up their energy levels. A wonderful picture painted for your reader through excellent word choice. You are truly an artist with words, Tom. Thank you so very much for sharing. I so enjoyed reading...

To find a place of beauty and solitude is remarkable rare. Beautifully expressed are your words of this dream place of comfort and care. Mine only come in my dreams once in a great while, yet have not found it to be true within this life. ;-}

Thank you Weeping Willow, and I will further say, ' hold on to your dreams ' 😋
Allowing nature to take back its true All About is as honest as giving anything once lent but not given in the past.

Yes indeed as in the end nature will reclaim her own!
If that is your place in picture, what a sanctuary it must be. Beautiful!!! There's something about nature wrapping a home in love like that. Thank you for sharing!

Is the cottage described that which is part of your YouTube collection?

I have heard you read some of your poetry on your YouTube channel which also shows the delightful musings of your special, yard friends. - love the one with the rainbow in view! And the sound of the fire crackling in the fireplace draws the reader next to you, waiting for each line to spark and warm the heart.

The vivid description of your piece of paradise is captivating and gives one cause to want to journey off to find such a wonderful place of respite, your blissful exile!

Is the photo that which shows us where such paradise is found?

Thank you for sharing with us a piece of your corner of the world!

Yes indded, 'tis on the bucket list of most I would contend, thank you for your visit & thoughts!
" blissful exile" is a place only a few can reach. You made it, Tom! Some in today's harsh reality just want to stay alive.

yes indeed, sadly true, thank you Alla!

It seems we think similarly sir .. I also found my little oasis a couple of years back with what to me is the best of everything .. the moors (Exmoor) bordering my own garden to the rear .. steep hills to the side and the ocean straight in front .. the previous owners spent all day every day in the gardens (we have three) but I have chosen to allow nature to reclaim what I believe is rightfully its own and let the bees do their stuff largely undisturbed .. You create a pretty picture Tom .. Neville

I know, I am very, very lucky in that respect Tom :)
Sounds blissful and idylic. You paint a picture of a man living surrounded by nature and revelling in it, someone who respects nature and covets peace and solitude. A writer's paradise.

Indeed, precisely so, thank you John!
Tom,

All that I can say, is that this piece reads (photo supports as such) like you live and reside in: Paradise, Heaven on Earth, recluse's secluded un-intruded virtual reality's Garden of Eden replete with a true king's castle ...
