Pearlescent frog, sat small, silent, squat just what are you thinking, I know not? Still life art in diminutive, physical form as jet black eyes, observe, raging storm
Permit me close inspection, answer this are you perturbed or in trance like bliss? Semiaquatic creature, beguiling, minute, pray tell, share truth, fate of King Canute?
Bulbous orbs reveal a telepathic cortex images of man's demise, swirling vortex, amplified by ignorance, hapless, so blind inherent his relinquish of ties that bind
And so to avoid the predatory hornbilly
off hopped frog to muse upon waterlily, grieved, dishearten, like wasted tears prophetic knowledge, lost on deaf ears!
The eyes tell it all; bittersweet; he must sense predators and move about for safety; but I'm sure behind those bulging eyes is a brain, and who knows the smarts of it, but it's sad that this little creature must be on the lookout for predators..... as do humans... who know maybe they are wiser than us... Love your wordage and the photo.

Many thanks for your visit and perceptive words on the poem new friend! 😉
A beautiful posted image Tom to accompany your stanzas. A little creature that needs big eyes to ensure its chances of survival. Many predators lurking to make a meal out of its small frame. Your poem is composed eloquently and I am so pleased that a water lily was a suitable escape route for a frog sensing danger.

Indeed, indeed so my friend, small sometimes can pack a powerful punch, thank you muchly!
One of your top best poems among others. I like how you put all that in a wondrous picture and perspective. If we all know the whole range or purpose of God's creation, including frogs, we will be amazed.
I always wondered too Tom, on top of what you reveal, why they are green? Could be wrong.

The frog you painted with words is a very cute and wise little creature. Pearlescent frog...how beautiful that reads....A thing of true beauty, with such adorable eyes, happy in its own world. Not that it doesn't face its own challenges, not that it lacks for sorrow and tears....I love this deep, many layered poem and the beautiful visuals of the little frog you sketch. You paint us a beautiful picture and you tell us so subtly about life.....
Kudos on another gem of a poem, dear Tom. Thank you for sharing your poetry.

It was a lovely read Tom. Keep sharing your poetry, please.
Being in the right place at the right time is just the best! Number one, the picture. Number two, your poem. If not for the photograph, who knows if this poem would ever have been born. Both are just perfect. I really love the format and the language used. Just superlative!
