O' snowbird, high upon pendulous prong invigorating, thy sweet, mellifluous song chastens north wind's bitter, biting chill unabated, your merry, cohesive shrill when land is frozen white, hearts bleed reconcile, merger bread, nutritious mead
O' snowbird, now sat squat on frigid soil joyously, thou sing through strife and toil as outer garments of men, tightened fast your coloured plumage, designed to last if clothes wear thin, needle and thread best knit one purl one, winterproof, feather nest
O' snowbird, thou sapient song, lesson learned I bow to thee, your creed not lost nor spurned to know pangs of hunger, cold, feel insecure nature's test, build character, enrich heart pure challenge accepted, and to numb season's sting in harmony with ye I sing, awaiting, verdant Spring
I read this all the way through twice, because the first time I read it that rockin' Robin song started playing in my head, but I think it was the adult only version because it started pulsing and throbbing and I couldn't believe its cheek, so had to reread it to make sure you didn't say it and it's me that's going to the bad fire, you were only reading it! 😊
Wow! What a classic write from your poetic pen, Tom! I love the beautiful graphic of the precious Robin which accompanies your wonderful poem. Your Winter poem reminds me of Christmas and I love to see the little Robins appear at that time of year though they must feel the cold terribly. Love this poem, Tom! Thank you for sharing it...

Most welcome always, Tom. Yes, the little robin is a true delight to see regardless of the season...

This feisty little Robin shows us that though very small, can withstand the frozen tundra and keep singing...
we bow to his braveness of being able to still sing through the blustery cold and doesn't complain about hunger ,etc.... brave little thing...nicely penned in rhyme...
Best, B
Thk k sjch a delightful [ full of fine and honest phrasing, irs meter more than lyrical. Plus for me, seems to be a song of phrase, a tribute to what is called a robin here in the UK.. as I notice Chris has said but.. no matter, what we want to say, I guess that we have the mutual pleasure of a courageous little being that manages to survive harsh winter weather and yet - -sings like crazy during the Summer ones. Once had a sparrow fly along with me when out walking with my dogs, singing now and again, enjoying our company maybe for almost am jpir tree tp tree. Then, suddenly disappeared and flew back towards our land, because of course, robins are territorial beings. That short time was one of the highlights of my life... was magical.
Your very fine and lovely poem has brought back memories.. thank you so much.

It's never time wasted, so many birds remind me of humans = have the look and mannerisms of this or that human beings: Wrens, tiny but persistent: Blackbirds, meant to rule or lead; Sparrows, ever busy, willing to do anything going!
It all comes from inside, i hav been in strong snow storm with bare jacket no cap still i could walk as it was snow,or Him that didnt made me feel cold. Great to hav you Sir. I've often wondered how these little birds survive such frigid temperatures, plus forage for food. Such a lovely poetic rendering to these wonders of nature that we are fortunate to have among us. Thank you for the delight it was to read!

Thank you Kelly, indeed a thrill to have you stop by and read your pleasing comments!
What a lovely tribute to snow birds this is. I could almost hear the song they sing. The lines flowed so easily and the rhyme was perfect! Your choice of vocabulary is stellar. Quite a winner of a poem. Lydi**
