Whispering Trees

Whispering Trees

A Poem by Tom
"

Two of my dear cafe friends have been urging me to pen a poem sooner than later, so that I did, and as such, it's dedicated to both, I guess they'll know who they are without me disclosing same?

"
Whilst out for a stroll, if truth be told
when first, I heard the news,
she's going away, no more to stay
ne'er again, we'll schmooze

Carried on the breeze, the whispering tress
sang a lonesome lullaby,
my love so fair, with raven black hair
alas, must say goodbye

My heart sank low, why would she go
looking up, I cried aloud,
has she met another, a secret lover
I implored a passing cloud?

I do not know, you'll have to go
and seek the wise old owl
then raindrops fell, my tears as well
this grief, I could not cowl

I plundered on, far, far beyond
in hope to engage,
and there perched high, I did spy
one known as the sage

O' eminent bird, truth is your word
pray tell it is falsehood,
for I am rueful, my lady beautiful
has gone to Bollywood

Be calm good sir, said he up there
let me assuage this yearn,
the trees tell lies, I see two dark eyes
awaiting your return

Thank you wise owl, cheek by jowl
reunited we shall be,
then homewards ran, a renewed man
my heart now filled with glee

And there within, fair lady of dark skin
from land of tiger and jaguar
saying, a pushy boss, wished her to cross
far sea, to become a movie star

But as is her kind, politely, she did decline
for here, she feels at ease,
in this land so green, where can be seen
those beguiling, whispering trees

Aaaaaahhhh! Those trees have a lot to answer for, Tom! I love this narrative poem filled with excellent imagery for your reader to enjoy. Your love made the correct choice in choosing you over Bollywood! I think the trees were a bit jealous. They had nobody to hug them and tell them they were loved and they made up the story that your love had left you just to annoy you, but Mr. Owl knew better, his wisdom is razor sharp and he told you the truth. So good to be reunited with your love again! Wonderful write, Tom Thoroughly enjoyed it and thank you for sharing...

I wish I knew who left... this is not a happy ending...
Every time someone leaves the cafe, it creates sadness and void in the family of writers. Although they have their personal reasons but I hope they don't cower to the bad ones and force them out. We all should after each other and be honest on how to defend themselves in the cyber world.
An excellent tribute , sir Tom.

You are welcome.
That little walk in nature had a magical effect. The rhythm is quite jaunty, taking us through worry and sorrow to the happy ending! I enjoyed reading this poem.

sheeeesh, dont time fly ... four years eh' and still bowlin them maidens over :)
.....Whilst' taking the time to check in on my Writer's Cafe friends midst the ongoing illness of my son, I am so pleased to have found your lovely collection of words of romance and longing; ah, for the dark haired beauty you long for who chooses to take leave is so well expressed as your tears pool on the leaves of those beguiling, whispering trees. When one's heart is captured by another it is most difficult to make such a break, so I hope for you that this absence is not a permanent one! You deserve so much my friend....the desires of your heart should be yours in this land of longing!

You weave the story so that it holds the attention of the reader, and gives cause for a sigh of "let it be better"!
