My cup runneth over..

My cup runneth over..

A Poem by Tom
"

A fellowship poem to see us safely into the New Year and onwards..

"
Though the well may be dry
no need to sadly sigh
and wither on the vine
For the challenge of life
in comfort or in strife
is to walk the righteous line

The spoils of decadence
soon rapidly condense
viewed through, discerning eye
If consumed by wanton greed
a heart cannot bleed
when little children cry

The corrupt and morally unshaven
seek sanctuary or haven
behind walls of ill-repute
But a house is not a home
if built on tainted loam
and will bear forth, rancid fruit

So take a leaf from the good book
don’t grapple on the hook
of avarice or imposition
For if the soul is pure
it is written de facto, de jure
your cup will overflow, through wise volition 😇

Wonderful words of wisdom shared with your reader in this sublimely penned poem, dear Tom. Excellent use of metaphor and various figures of speech as you ink you poem in visual detail and play with words in the most poetic way. There is only one way to live one's life and that is with Light and Love as we help each other along our path in life. We need to listen to the cries of little children and older people who need our help so badly, listen to the poor, the downtrodden, the rejected, the black sheep in society and we need to help them get back into a world where they can live in joy and peace again, but so many are caught up in materialism and greed, that hope is fading of any change in the near future, not even sure if such a day will ever dawn when we will all co-operate with love for each other, stand beside each other and help each other, asking NOTHING in return, Tom. THANK YOU! for sharing this v-e-r-y insightful and wonderful poem which shows the way to the future, if we have eyes to see it... Lovely work, dear Tom...

G whiz Einstein thanks for the wonderful review !! Much appreciated my poetic friend !!😳
Walking the "righteous line" is indeed the great challenge, met only by divine grace, godly fellowship, and a steady choosing of "wise volition," among a few other key ingredients, if you will. The metaphors of fruit-bearing, good soil, cup overflowing, etc., are nicely woven in and remind us of the organic nature of the truly good life, its "as you are going," lived-in, earthy quality, how it nourishes the soul, and produces real consequences and possibilities. Good words of encouragement for the new year.

Thanks again NeuroV and may this New Year be a happy & properous one for you too !
some really sage advice---instant gratification taints the conscience in the long run---
and the meek shall inherit the earth----

if we can comfortably rest our heads on the pillow at night, we know we have done it right.

really like this poem, Tom.

You are welcome. .....:)....
Plaudits, Tom.
This was such a pleasant and sensible approach to the lofty and impossible aspirations of most New Year resolutions. Balanced, quietly achievable and, above all, beautifully expressed.

Thank you Norman for your perceptive comments !
Such compassion in your words, Tom. If we are to be truly happy in this world, we must remember the Golden Rule and be grateful for all we have. Helping others feels good...more people should try it. What a lovely uplifting write to usher in the New Year, my friend. Lydi**

Thank you Dhaye and a very happy New Year to you as well !
It warms my heart to read sentiments expressed by one who truly appreciates that which is worth more than silver and gold! I must remember your words of advice in my goings in and goings out as they are tenets of wisdom that encourage goodness and shall hopefully remind me of that which does make my cup runneth over. We have challenges, we have pain, we have disappointments but we have a solution for all that brings these things to us; yes, it is a leaf from the good book every time that shall carry us through the trials of life!
Cheers, blessings, and love for your kind soul my friend!
