Early to bed early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise !
An early rise with the lark at dawn, to greet a rapturous, fine summer morn, leaving behind my humble abode, through fields of lavender, I eagerly strode as I raised my head and gazed aloft, to view a sky of blue behind clouds, cotton soft, I closed my eyes and inhaled deep, vitality filled my lungs, while others sleep!
Pleasant aromas then infused, with the lark's shrill song, my senses enthused, erasing each and every folly e'er I knew, all rendered hence a pleasing adieu! 'Twas then my reason to wonder why, grown men in slumber, prostrate lie and never rise with the lark at dawn, nor hear its shrill, invigorating, song?
Continuing on my pleasurable, pilgrimage, exulted by harmony and redolent fragrance to a venue of noted esteem and worthy merit, where a game is played with fortifying spirit, outside, within an open and hallowed ground, leather on willow, another summer, sultry sound And on arrival to sojourn for the day, I took my seat just as an eminent voice called out;" Play"!
The pleasure of an invigorating early morning walk is echoed in the rhythm of this poem, and so many of your "end rhymes" were a delight. I can only hope that the match was being played on a village green, however, as queuing up for a ticket and sitting in a stadium does detract from your rural image .lol.
Loved it, nevertheless, Tom.

You are most welcome and thank you for such praiseworthy review !
I can smell the crisp's morning air fragrance in your poetry. How you weave cricket into each of your delightful reads is beyond me, but it always works Tom! Bravo, another great one my friend.

A warm and heartfelt thanks as ever Frieda for your welcome visit !
In my years of suicidal depression, sleep was always my escape. Now I love to rise early with the larks and robins and feast on the colors of the sunrise. Your confessions here stir the light so deeply and beautifully, my friend.

Great minds think alike lol, thank you indeed Eros !
I wish I was a morning person and could appreciate the sound of birds chirping but really I just want to have a BB gun near my bed to hush them. LOL-- regardless of my issues, I loved the idea of having those feelings with my senses fulfilled by the beauty of the day. I'm sure if I had something like a passion for Cricket I could be a morning person if I had to be. Great write Tom!
Awesome piece Tom ... Every line is rich with adrenaline inducing song . You described it like your hammock is suspended above the tree top and the game field is in the middle of the amazon jungle .
A piece that roars with imagery and excited feeling of anticipation, I admit, I'm hardly and expert on cricket, but I feel like I want to be now, well done, good read.
