I am Zeus !

I am Zeus !

A Poem by Tom
"

A poem about the power of love

"
I am Zeus God of gods,
the omnipotent one!
All immortal and mere mortal
bow in reverence,
to my almighty power, awesome!

I could make you a king,
ruler, over land and sea,
or I could take it all away again,
just as easily!

I can crush a mountain,
just as you a fly,
or send a multitude of shooting stars,
across the midnight sky!

If my desire a princess royal
would relinquish,
a much coveted, cherished, chastity
There really is no limit,
to my ability!

But you tiny, insignificant, mortal man
I am envious of thee
as what you know, I know not off
and it burdens me!

Why doth the lady's cheeks glow red,
when you pass each other by?
Or when you gently clasp her hand,
why that sparkle in her eye?

If this is what you know as Love
then I must decree!
It has more power than I above,
for it is unconditional
and esteemed by parity!

Tom,

You have set to pen of page a most enthralling philosophical piece of excellent Poetry that does well to stir the imagination nation within the mind of that men are taught as conditioned and programed mentally to perceive is to believe as truths that are lies of Religion's Bullshit that ain't diddly s**t, but lies, lies, lies, and more lies upon lies to fool guys like you and I, in teaching us of an alleged God which the The Church & her whorish Protest-ant daughters proclaim as Love, but knows nothing of Love, else He as a dumbass s**t would not have violated said as alleged Virgin Mary, the betrothed wife of another man forced into the position of raising another's child, whilst being more loving and merciful than is such a proclaimed God, himself, so as to NOT claim his Israelite Torah written and said right to have his violated and ravished betrothed wife stoned to death, but, instead, to determine to love her, anyway of anyhow, for of us less than God-like ways as a man who obviously was more right of rightly Godly and Righteous than was/is that alleged and speculated as proclaimed in the name of Bullshit God, Himself ...

I loved this wonderfully honest and sincerely written piece of Poetry ...

Love is above, beyond all power, in heaven and on earth. A powerful message for all mortals and hate-filled ones.
I like the sarcasm scattered in here . A worthy message sir Tom. Good rhyming too.

Awww... You started this with Zeus boasting of his mighty powers and ended with him envying man for his capacity to really love. I like mythology and I admire poems with injected mythological themes so this poem rocks. :)

P.S. Zeus is awesome and all, but I don't like his having affairs with women. ;)

It is love both unconditional and non-contrived that he desires yet despite his all domineering powe.. read more
AH Zeus. He jipped Poseidon and Hades out of mount Olympus and they've been ticked about it ever since. Old Zeus mutated into Yahweh of Old Testament fame with all the wrathing and smoting of anyone who hocked him off which apparently was easy as falling off a log in those days. Seeing as how God hasn't given us the time of day in millenniums now you gotta wonder what he's been up to. Maybe he's making galaxies in an alternate universe and his cellphone carrier doesn't cover this one. I don't know. Great poem all the same Tom. I got a big bang out of it.

Thank you again Flora !
This is one of your best poems, Tom. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I particularly liked the last two stanzas. That the all powerful Zeus knows nothing of love is a sad state, indeed. He has the world in his hands but will never feel its most beautiful emotion. Bravo, my friend!
