Human?

Human?

A Poem by TJ Graham
"

What is Human to someone who is not sure of it's meaning?

"

Human?

I stand on the rooftops of this city
Waiting for the Demons to come
Will this battle be won?

They came here wanting flesh
Will they get it?
Not without a fight to the death

I stand on the rooftops of this city
Waiting for the Demons to come
They are not from here
But, we the people, still cower in fear

I will not stand for this
Not anymore
But, I
I was made to fight

As I, am not entirely Human

I am a creation of man
Not God

Where will I go when Death finds me?

I stand on the rooftops of this city
Ready to defend its people

From the Demons that want its flesh

I stand on the rooftops of this city
Feeling alien to its love
Yet it is not my enemy

I stand on the rooftops of this city
Ready to defend it

I am not afraid

This is meant to precede my work-in-progress Sci-Fi Novel "Black Haven" I may not make sense, but it's my first attempt at a 'poem'. So tell me what you think.

I agree this will be a good prologue. I am interested in the character already.

You did really well, I liked it, and if you use it as you discribed, it will be a perfect prelouge.
