My Childhood Jazz

My Childhood Jazz

A Poem by Tomi

Twinkle twinkle little stars

Thoughts of childhood make me smile

I'd like to dance to childhood jazz

i haven't done that in a while

Little, little: little me

I wet my bed it didn't feel weird

the world has never felt so free

But now my childhood jazz is dead

Innocence has never felt so far

Death has never felt so near

I dreamt i'll be a shinning star

I wish my childhood jazz was here

I cried with pains to sleep at night

when i woke, they were not there

I played with sand and rode a kite

My childhood Jazz of Yesteryear

Mary had a little lamb

Old McDonald had a farm

i slipped, fell and broke my arm

And cried right into Mother's Arms

Although my childhood jazz is dead

Thinking of tomorrow: i seldom fear

In nostalgia, i lay in bed

My childhood Jazz of yesteryear

I'm a Grandfather today. The old songs and tales of youth are told to grandchild with eager eye and ears. I like the flow of story and the very good ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I love jazz, and writing using words about jazz, and I enjoyed this poem a lot, nice use of fairytales, developing into autobiography, good writing.
