Doctor Who?

Doctor Who?

A Poem by Tomi

Blood-shot eyes, open pages

I’m so tired, tired of opening pages

They say, he’ll be a doctor one day

But he hopes to be a writer someday

Shut doors make way to open windows

Of opportunity, why won’t this shut already?

I’m weak but I’m all ready

To do something else already

With everyday a forceful survival

Every class; some sort of trial

Way beyond denial

I’ll try again, one last time, one final final

Author's Note

Tomi
I'm currently in my third year of Med school with 3 years left. I realised quite late that i don't really want to be a doctor..really, really late. I'm all "it's never too late to pursue what you have passion for" but it's frustrating atimes. Trust me, i know i'm going to do other things with my life besides medicine. If you're reading this and you're about to make a career choice I'd advice that you for go for passion and think deeply about it. Very few people know about my frustration. it's been killing me so i just had to write my pain out! Have a prosperous new year and think hard and pray before you make decisions...

I like this is shows what you are feeling clearly and after your own note, you see that the poem portrays your exact feelings of it

Good to be a Doctor and a writer. They are the best writers. Know the soul and the body mean you have great understanding of life and action. Education is something I wished I went after. I would loved to been a teacher of literature and history. Learning is always a bonus. Need more doctors and writer's. Thank you for the excellent poem.

This is a universal feeling for many,Tomi. It took two years of school for me to realize that I wanted to be a teacher. So sometimes it may take others to realize whay they want to be. Great write.

Thank you cord!
I can completely relate to this.... at uni I changed three degrees and now that I have a profession it doesn't feel like me at all.... there is no right answer to this.. if you feel you will do something else, you will.. I believe that, you are determined and talented.. but perhaps there is also no harm to finish something you started... since you already have put in so much effort. Just my thoughts, good luck on your exams!

A difficult choice. My son is not sure if he wants to study medicine or be an actor.
If you are young, life is not so simple. Like the poem.
