Crystabel and Elf - Part 10 (Finale)

Crystabel and Elf - Part 10 (Finale)

A Poem by Tom Benson
"

Elfmac takes Crystabel home with him to the Highlands

"

Celebrations taking place,

all throughout the wood.

Every fairy's smiling face,

made it feel so good.

Friendships with the elves,

cemented very fast.

They all enjoyed themselves,

for some the die was cast.

'Crystabel,' said Elfmac,

'it's time for our goodbyes.

Noo wi' you ah'll go back,

north across the skies.'

'It looks like we have friends,

who've hooked up here as well.

A lot noo sure depends,

on oor journey, ah' can tell.'

Nymphette and Tricksybel,

both found themselves a Scot.

The guys felt they'd done well,

seeing what they'd got …

Tinkerbell and Little Bet,

both teamed up with Scots elves.

Neither girl would fret,

both happy for themselves.

It took a day to travel,

by bird-flight to return.

The route home to unravel,

to a forest none would spurn.

More celebrations seen,

when King Elfmac returned.

Accompanied by his Queen,

as all his subjects learned.

'Noo Crys' ma' love ye've heard,

cos' rumours here abound.

Nae need tae become scared,

but tell ye' ... aye ah'm bound.'

'Up here ah' have a choice,

tae alter all my features.

Even change ma' voice,

becoming many creatures.'

'So as ma' Queen ye' too,

will also be allowed.

Tae' be a bird of blue,

or a rabbit in the crowd.'

'On many days ah'm seen,

as one who elves think regal.

For many years ah've been,

a mighty Golden Eagle.'

'It will be nae surprise,

tae know how ah'd enjoy.

Tae have ye' in the skies,

bird choice ye' can employ.'

'I'd love to be an eagle,

came Crystabel's reply,

'to fly with you so regal,

way high up in the sky.'

'It's right that you should know,

I want to be with you.

Wherever you may go,

whatever you might do.'

'What happens with the others,

all the other elves?

Red Elf and all his brothers,

can they too change themselves?'

'Aye,' Elfmac then said,

'Red Elf is a stag.

A group of deer he'll head,

you'll see 'im from a crag.'

'We awe can change as willed,

and because it's magic.

We can't be caught or killed,

nothin' sad or tragic.'

'So welcome tae oor world,

a place o' wondrous beauty.

As round ye' ma' arms curled,

protectin' ye's ma' duty.'

'We'll live noo here ma' love,

and at a single stroke.

We'll take tae skies above,

an' visit yer ain' folk.'

'He who remembers kin,

will stay strong in the heart.

Their love kept strong within,

though livin' far apart.'

'We're noo a team of two,

life will be grand ma' dear.

You have me 'n' ah' hav' you,

you'll never hav' tae fear.'

So if Scotland you should visit,

and photograph the creatures.

Be careful not to miss it,

they might start changing features …
