Crystabel and Elf - Part 7A Poem by Tom BensonTime to be honest with each other ...
For three weeks all was quiet, in the small enchanted wood. Elf saw a meal he'd try it, so many types of food.
Both Crystabel and Elf, enjoyed their time each day. Crys' felt sorry for herself, knowing here, Elf wouldn't stay.
She'd asked him many times, about his mountain place. He'd answer her in rhymes, which always lit her face.
'Aw' it's beau'iful ye' know, frae glens to mountain peak. It's a place ye' have tae go, if it's grandeur that ye' seek.'
'Aye ah' wondered by the way, if a visit there ye'd take. In pine forests we could play, a great auld time we'd make.'
'Ye'd see the big red stags, an' hear their moans and cries. Golden eagles launch frae crags, tae soar across the skies.'
Crystabel observed, the strong but gentle Scot. To go home he deserved, but she liked him such a lot.
Crys' said, 'Elf if you stay, it would be good for me, but I fear you'll leave one day, your heart longs to be free.'
'Aw Crys' ah' won't pretend, ah' miss the mountainside. But fur me 'n you tae end, noo' that ah' couldnae bide.'
'So aw' these things ah've told, aboot ma' land tae ye' Ah' hoped ye' might be sold, on comin' back wi' me …'
Crystabel was crying, but tears of joy they were. To hold back she'd been trying, but now she didn't care.
'I thanked the lord above, when you arrived down here. Then since we made sweet love, I've longed to keep you near … '
