The Lone Stranger

The Lone Stranger

A Poem by Tom Benson
"

A humorous look at a famous western team ...

"

'Kimosabe just a sec',

don't get too far ahead.

You've got sunburn on your neck,

and you don't suit it red …'

'On Silver you ride hummin',

like you haven't got a care.

Sioux war party is comin',

and they're gonna have your hair'

'We've been ridin hard for days,

and my red butt's getting sore.

I've had to sit so many ways,

I don't want to ride no more.'

* *

'C'mon Tonto giz a break,

it's only ten more miles.

Be a 'brave' for heaven's sake,

just forget about your piles …'

'Hang on ... a cloud of dust,

they're chasing harder now.

Stand together, fight we must,

die together … show them how.'

* *

'Kimosabe I'll not pretend,

you have to understand.

It looks like it's the end,

at least for you 'white man' …
