INJUSTICEA Poem by Tom BensonMy general frustration with the inability of the 'Free World' to do something really positive.
In this world in which we live,
there is so much that is wrong.
Folk with so much more to give,
made to feel they don’t belong.
There are tyrants, quite a few,
who keep citizens oppressed.
What does the ‘free world’ do?
It makes noise and beats it’s chest.
Human rights has two extremes,
which stare us in the face.
Why can’t we set up teams,
to put these tyrants in their place.
Some red, yellow, white or black,
many peoples’ need a hand.
We must help them to take back,
their livelihood and land.
Lots of countries fair quite well,
and prosperity is seen.
Still others are like hell,
folks lives have been picked clean.
New dictators are still found,
with their country rearranged.
In a moment you turn ‘round,
and everything has changed.
It is what it is you see,
if firm action we don’t take.
Let these monsters still live free,
would be a grave mistake.
It’s then ‘extremes’ I’d condone,
to punish them as one.
If from power they were thrown,
then democracy has won.
