Beneath the Armor

Beneath the Armor

A Poem by TomboyVisionary

Beneath The Armor

We hear of masks, an image we dare ourselves to speak
Offensive maneuvers that prevent a portrait of meek
Nobody mentions to gaze beneath the armor
Soul bared apparel, that carries a man further
You carry this with you where ever you go
Cracks in its plates would simply mess up the flow

A Backhanded picture we take for granted
Disturbs to the core when conflicts are handed
Suffice to say, that's how it is in this game
The masses eyes desire candy before going into play
Fear not, for a mans eye's can turn all ways
You don't always have to walk with that much weight

Shedding thyself with this armor will not make life easy
But perhaps it will make destinations much more breezy
Though it never pains to wear pieces of armor to protect
True power comes from the flesh, toughened skin that won't ever defect
No pounds of armor, but our own being we shall caress
This miracle, only the realest of humankind would be able to possess

Flesh no words, actions, renegade existence will penetrate
Sharpened skin a singular touch will result to mutilate
Disciplined and willing, vulnerable but unbothered
A walking corpse with a heart evermore beating
Belongings embraced with gratitude yet endlessly seeking
Learn to live without the armor, a day shall nevermore end with weeping

I must say, hellos, I truly like the threshold, visionary, of armors
and yer question on how it would be unlikely to fight a meek without one,
I think you should incorporate more thought. I love it, don't get me wrong,
but your vision is strong, :D ---maynard

The way you explored the idea of masks and the way they can become a burden that we carry with us was so moving and relatable. I loved the way you used the metaphor of armor to explore the character's struggle with their own sense of self, and the way that they were being judged by others. The line "No pounds of armor, but our own being we shall caress" really resonated with me, and I think it's a powerful reminder that we need to learn to love and accept ourselves for who we are. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with the world!
