To Where From Here

To Where From Here

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

"Now, in order to answer the question, "Where do we go from here?" which is our theme, we must first honestly recognize where we are now." - MLK

"

Now, in order to answer the question, "Where do we go from here?" which is our theme, we must first honestly recognize where we are now.

File:Martin Luther King Jr NYWTS 6.jpg

To where from here the question we ask

As we walk a road not planned

We will not know which was to go

Till we know where it is we stand

So look around, right around you

To where you have come from on your way

And you know which step to take, what direction

And tomorrow, look back on today.

This was profound and with the image of Martin Luther King.. it sure hits home. Truly to move forward we must use past, present and some future goals to reach forward and pursue.. to miss any part of that.. is to be blind to direction in life. Much of past makes us who we are.. the present is the tense in time where we sit trying to make decisions for our future.. when coming from a path not planned.. we can only take the knowledge of past to correct the future. This is not always easy.. but is needed. I loved the rhythm, rhyme and flow.. and the message is very clear!!! Brilliant
