Tower of Vrsac

Tower of Vrsac

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

Tower of Vrsac in Serbia

"

The tower stands ruined
Looks down on the town below
No eyes or windows

Where once there was there
Cold eyes of Turkish soldiers
Looked on Romania

Today but a ruin
Turkey rules here no more
But eyes they see all

From the tower not:
But down from satellites
Eyes up in the sky

Very nicely done. I feel like I've been on a mini site seeing tour. Since I've never ACTUALLY seen any sights, this was very pleasant for me.

I really like the ending how you run the parallels between the ancient eyes of the Turkish soldiers and the modern eyes of the satellites ..."Eyes up in the sky" ... marvelous!

Excellent write, thank you for sharing :)

I like your historical political and sociologically important writing, Tomas. You let me see places I didn't visit yet and you wrap them into a mystery and make me dwell upon their fate. Nicely done this one!
