On Deaths Embrace, I Shall Sleep

On Deaths Embrace, I Shall Sleep

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

An old poem I am reposting...

"

On Deaths Embrace, I Shall Sleep

On deaths embrace, I shall sleep
With all my worries o’re
And those who liked or not, in memory me they keep
They shall speak with me no more.

For under blanket of the clay
My bones till Worlds End will lie
Pray not for me: for yourself pray:
For you, like me, will die.

I like this piece. Giving advice to the living to start thinking about living.

For at death, nothing can be done. Prayers can, after all, be words.

It is like asking for water for a dead horse, it will do nothing.

Going back to the central point, it carries a powerful message.

Poems of a few words can bring such a powerful impact.

Great fundamentals.

A wonderful write.

Written like a classic, which I adore. It's beautiful; I love how you give advice without really giving it, keeping it simple and elegant. I love the line:
For you, like me, will die.
It's simple and intriguing. Maybe it's morbid of me, but I'm interested in the inevitability of death. Nice write!

Very good piece, I agree with Dan, it's very direct, and very powerful. Nicely done on all accounts.

Strong, direct and reflective. Very impressive write. Reminds me of something classic, but in such a good way.
