My Way Is In The Sand Flowing

My Way Is In The Sand Flowing

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

Poem inspired by lines written by Samuel Beckett

"

" My way is like the sand flowingPhoto of the writer Samuel Beckett, whose poem inspired these few lines...
between the shingle and the dune"

The sand it flows on the seashore

Here today, but for how long?

He who says the sands of life

Never change: he is wrong

Sure they may look the same

As they did here yesterday

But flowing waves and blwing winds

Have moved more on, and some away.

And my way, it is as Beckett wrote

Is like sand and shingle flowing from the dune

Blown hard by the winds of life

Caressed by lifes tides as they dance in accordance with the moon.

Lovely. haha... and I'm so caught up in all the thoughts this provoked I can hardly muster up much more of a review!!! lol
but.. it deserves one.
It is desolate. It's also necessary. Sometimes we humans get so full of ourselves we forget to liken ourselves to the grains of sand we are. I like the caressing in the end, it extends a hope of love above the forlornness of this piece. Excellent write.

I have re-read your poem... I love S. Beckett.... his Waiting for Godot is unforgetable..philosophicaly-psychological piece...when asking the meaning of life... thanks for entering my contest.

I like your premise here. The poem itself has a good flow.

Sands of time
Too often I end up almost buried in the sands of time
At least it seems like I am always digging myself out
after those vicious sand storms of life
I enjoyed this write
Thanks for sharing

First of all, you start this poem with this beautiful quote... yes, when I retrospectively look back at your writing, I exactly can see it....you are not stepping left, not stepping right.... just going with the compassion for those who need your concernt and your love. Like the dune around the shingle... That's you...
This is such a fantastic message and wording, Tomas. My new favorite of yours! Yes I think, we are battered by life and then again caressed by life tides, hands of a friend. This was my favorite stanza (even I loved them all!) "Blown hard by the winds of life" .... Hmm Beckett, he was unhappy, wasn't he, so very often in the shadow of J. Joyce..

exquisite. and a bit lonely - although I'm not sure why. Maybe its the whole concept of sand....miniscule granules...shifting - windswept. Yet from a distance to the untrained eye, the change is unseen.

"Caressed by lifes tides as they dance in accordance with the moon "

I'd rather be caressed by life's tides than swim against them. Nice write.
