The Sleeping Sentry

The Sleeping Sentry

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

If he was in the army he'd be shot... but hes not!!!

"

::: The Sleeping Sentry

The dog sleeping on the doorstep
Keeps the cats away
For they cant enter while hes there
And upone the couches play.

So to torment birds the cat set
And to slink around the garden
Maybe climb through an open window
Without as much as “beg your pardon”

The dog sleeping on the doorstep
Who tries to keep cats out
Fails when windows are open
To stop the moggies from sneaking about!

This was so sweet - poem for children. why don't you make such a book? you are perfect in writing this style of poems. Children need to learn the rhythm of language and they need therefore - the exact rhyme. That's what you do. I enjoyed this beautiful poem.
