The Fairy Folk

The Fairy Folk

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

The fog hides the sidhe from mortal man... do not seek to see beyond it!

"

“I know not” said the old, old man
“Of if the stories true
That the fairies dance, and one might chance
To of their dancing have a view
If out early enough of a morning
When the suns about to rise
And should the scene there be to see
And the rising fog not disguise
But it is said that men like us
Should not seek at such things to pry
They are not of this world you see
And to find them one should not try
Each to their own dominion
Creatures of day and creatures of night
And the Faerie folk they are of both
The waning of darkness and light…

I enjoyed the story. Many things we do not know. In my travel. I saw many things that I could not explain. Myth and tale. Left wonders for us to dream and think about. Light and the fairies. Mysteries of the quiet night. Thank you for sharing your outstanding poetry.

Ah, The Tuatha Dé Danann, the People of Danu, the faerie people from the 5th invasion of Ireland. You know I have a great love for this legendry. It is a complicated and conflicting mythology, but we have inherited so much of our language and culture from those times. And you capture the charm and magic of the faery and the Land of the Forever Young. Loved it, Tomas. This was greatly enjoyed.

Very best regards!

I believe in faries, and I would like to see them dancing. I have seen the fairy rings they leave in the grass.

Ordinarily I don't comment on pieces written this long ago, but I like your work and wanted to read something that looked as interesting as "The Fairy Folk." I wish you'd write some more.
