Christmas Card to the HomelessA Poem by Tomás Ó CárthaighJonathan Corrie froze to death in Dublin this week, just before Christmas, outside the gates of the Irish parliment. Let us think of the homeless this Christmas...
More than a face, you have a name, you settle down to sleep
I up my pace, to my shame, as a wide berth of you I keep That is your place, to which you came, where cold shadows creep Tonights base, no one you blame, as to slumbers yourself you weep Jonathan Corrie, from the town of Carlow, died outside the Irish Parliment this week. Lest we forget the homeless in these times of plenty. Christ Was Crucified In DublinBehind every homeless man is a human... here is the Jonathan Corrie story, seen through the eyes of a friend... http://www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/jonathan-corrie-was-one-of-my-best-friends-when-i-was-a-boy-1.2027133 Note: Church of Ireland is the Anglican church in Ireland, members of which, though not always, are of English or Scottish extraction, and are affluent still in comparison to their Catholic neighbours. © 2014 Tomás Ó CárthaighFeatured Review
