DreamA Poem by Tom WadeDream
My heart has taught me by experience Not to wish for things that don't make sense. There are not very many heroes In a life controlled by ones and zeros
A victim of technology Fairly tales were not for me To keep the system evenhanded Proof in a lab I demanded
What good are faith and hope to me In a life where I believe only what I see? For they are vastly overrated If they can't be demonstrated
My life was bound by mathematics Foolish dreams were for fanatics Shades of gray can not be right In a land that's only black and white
Logic thus consumed my days I went on in my foolish ways Until my child was born... Now it's foolish thinking that I scorn
In later years I've become so wise Now much to my surprise At last I've crossed the breach I've learned to dream beyond my reach
